Mari Energies Discovers More Gas and Condensate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Islamabad, April 3, 2025 – Mari Energies Limited (PSX: MARI) has announced another significant gas and condensate discovery at the Spinwam-1 well in the Waziristan Block, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). This marks the company’s third successful discovery in the region, further strengthening Pakistan’s domestic energy resources.
In a statement issued by Mari Energies, the company confirmed that the discovery was made following an extensive drilling and testing process. The well was drilled to a depth of approximately 3,500 meters, and testing results revealed promising gas and condensate reserves, reinforcing the potential of the Waziristan Block.
A Step Forward for Pakistan’s Energy Sector
The latest discovery is expected to enhance Pakistan’s natural gas production capacity, reducing the country’s reliance on imported energy sources. According to Mari Energies, the preliminary estimates indicate a substantial volume of recoverable reserves, which will contribute to meeting the growing energy demands of industries, power plants, and domestic consumers.
Speaking about the development, a spokesperson for Mari Energies stated, “The discovery at Spinwam-1 is a milestone for our exploration and production activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It not only highlights the hydrocarbon potential of the region but also aligns with our commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s energy security.”
Economic and Strategic Impact
Pakistan has been facing a persistent energy crisis, with natural gas shortages affecting households and businesses alike. The discovery of new gas and condensate reserves could help stabilize the domestic energy supply, reduce reliance on expensive LNG imports, and support economic growth.
Moreover, the successful exploration and drilling in KP underscore the province’s potential as a major contributor to the country’s energy landscape. The government and private sector stakeholders are expected to collaborate in fast-tracking the development and commercialization of these newly discovered reserves.
With further exploration underway, industry experts believe that more discoveries could follow, paving the way for a more self-reliant and sustainable energy sector in Pakistan.
